Dr. Laura Remy (BSN ’12 MPH ’17 PHD ’20) and her team at Stowers Institute for Medical Research are leading a major effort in the development and use of innovative testing for COVID-19.
Remy's team recently developed saliva testing that utilizes robotics to speed up results and reduce the discomfort of standard nasal swab tests. Additionally, Stowers researchers say their developments can reduce the cost of a test to a fraction of what labs must charge currently.
After completing her doctoral degree at Mizzou in May, Remy accepted the position as an Infection Disease Specialist and Clinical Trial Coordinator at Stowers in Kansas City, Mo.
